In other words, substation maintenance is routine preventative checks and actions carried out to ensure substations are kept in good working order. The typical process involves a series of strict visual and physical inspections and actions carried out in clusters.

The low voltage switchgear involves many devices like power circuit breakers, MCBs, aux. relays, CTs, VTs etc. and of course at the end – enclosures (indoor or outdoor type). The frequency of inspection and maintenance of low voltage switchgear should be 3-6 months  when new equipment is installed and 1-2 years for existing equipment. However, if problems with switchgear are encountered, the frequency MUST be shortened. Similarly to medium voltage switchgear, the conditions that call for frequent inspection and maintenance  are high humidity and temperature, corrosive atmosphere, excessive dirt or dust, frequent fault interruption, and age of the equipment.

Electronic components deviate from their original specifications as they age. A measuring device's ability to measure accurately will deteriorate. As a result, it should be calibrated to ensure that it operates properly within the expected ranges.

Calibration is critical because it ensures that your measurements are accurate, which is the foundation for the quality and safety of the products to be tested. Calibration saves money by preventing potential manufacturing errors. Instead of repairs during forced shutdowns, issues can be proactively resolved and corrected during normal maintenance.

Maximum pulling tensions, sidewall pressure, clearance, and jamming are all installation parameters for cables installed in conduits or trays. Other installations, such as buried and aerial, have different installation parameters. Most installations involve some general considerations, such as field handling, storage, end training, and junction box sizes. These and other factors can mean the difference between a good installation and one that results in damaged cable.
